Adventure Tactical is rolling out a major infrared sensor upgrade to its VIP light and Trilobyte beacon systems—aimed at giving soldiers faster warnings and better survivability against asymmetric threats. The update, announced ahead of SOF Week 2025 in Tampa, pushes the detection range of these beacons even further and responds directly to user feedback from the field.

The company, a division of Canada’s Adventure Lights Inc, has spent the past three decades building rugged visual and IR beacons for the US military, NATO allies, and global security forces. Their products—already packed with features like AutoSync™, Mockingbird® programming, and self-healing mesh networks—are used by frontline troops, special forces, and emergency response units in more than two dozen NATO countries

The sensor upgrade gives users an edge against newer laser range finders and IR detection tools that are becoming more common in asymmetric warfare. It improves early warning systems built into the beacon line and extends their Identification Friend or Foe (IFF) capabilities, giving users more time to respond in complex environments.

“Our mission is to build for extremes,” said Tim Ford, founder and president of Adventure Tactical. “This upgrade wasn’t born in a lab. It came from listening to troops who told us what they were up against. We moved fast to increase their detection range and get it into the gear they already trust.”

The upgraded VIP light™ and Trilobyte® beacons will be on display at SOF Week 2025 (Level 3, Booth 255) from May 6–8. Adventure Tactical also confirmed that this capability will be extended to more of its product line over the coming months.

With manufacturing hubs in Canada, Europe, and the US, Adventure Tactical says it’s well positioned to meet demand without export or tariff hurdles. The company also maintains strategic ties with Galvion and Robotics Centre to stay in step with evolving operational needs.

The signal is clear: as threats change, so do the tools. Adventure Tactical just took another step to make sure its users stay a few moves ahead.
