MyDefence Opens UK Counter-Drone Hub to Strengthen NATO Readiness
Danish counter-drone specialist MyDefence has launched a UK branch, a move designed to give British Armed Forces direct access to its field-tested Counter-Uncrewed Aerial Systems (C-UAS) and deepen ties between UK and European defence programs.
The company made the move in an effort to shore up cross-European NATO connections.
“Our technology has been tested in real combat conditions to protect frontline troops, critical infrastructure, and coalition forces,” said Dan D. S. Hermansen, CEO of MyDefence. “The UK remains a key NATO partner, and our presence here ensures we can deliver battle proven, field-ready capabilities rapidly to meet evolving drone threats.”
MyDefence’s move into the UK fits the larger push for closer UK–EU defence ties and links with Nordic programs. With NATO-ready systems already proven in combat, the company can put working counter-drone capability into the hands of British forces while lining up with the priorities of the Strategic Defence Review.
MyDefence’s systems detect, track, and neutralize hostile drones across battlefields, with a focus on interoperability and speed of deployment. They have been deployed in various theaters including Ukraine, the U.S., and Australia.
To lead the UK program, MyDefence has appointed Liam Hutcheson, a former British Army officer with experience in from the war in Ukraine and, more recently, in the Defence Supply Chain Capability Program. Hutcheson noted that the timing coincides with the UK Government’s Strategic Defence Review and the forthcoming Defence Investment Plan.
“Drones have transformed modern conflict, and the requirement for the UK to strengthen its C-UAS capability is clear,” Hutcheson said. “It is a really exciting time for UK MOD; the momentum from the Strategic Defence Review and the anticipation of the Defence Investment Plan means the timing is perfect for MyDefence to enter the UK market. MyDefence has demonstrated that it can field proven systems at speed on NATO operations - a capability I am enormously proud to bring to the UK.”
Backed by European private equity firm Bridgepoint, which took a majority stake in 2024, MyDefence’s move into the UK market marks another step in its global expansion. The new hub is pitched as both a technological bridge and a political signal of UK–EU alignment on advanced defence technologies at a time when NATO faces mounting pressure from hostile drone threats.
