Quantum Systems Raises €160M to Expand AI Drone Production
Quantum Systems, a Munich-based drone maker, has raised €160 million to expand global operations, scale up manufacturing, and invest in autonomy and AI. Backers include Balderton, Airbus, Hensoldt, and several venture and strategic investors. The company has now raised a total of €310 million.
Founded in 2015, Quantum builds dual-use aerial systems currently deployed by NATO-aligned governments, including in Ukraine. Recent acquisitions—AirRobot in Germany and Nordic Unmanned UK—have helped the company deepen its role as a supplier to the UK Ministry of Defence. Commercial applications range from mining to infrastructure monitoring.
This is one of the largest recent raises in European defense tech, and signals growing investor confidence in dual-use platforms with real operational track records. It also reflects a shift: more capital is flowing toward companies that combine aerospace hardware with software-defined autonomy.
