Rohde & Schwarz Releases Multi-Band Jammer for Counter-Drone Operations

Rohde & Schwarz has launched ARDRONIS Effect, a new multi-band jamming system built to counter the growing complexity of drone threats. The system is part of a broader effort by the company to help customers gain control of the electromagnetic spectrum—a key factor in modern military operations.
ARDRONIS Effect is designed to give defense and security teams the tools to block even the most advanced drones, including those built to resist jamming or operate in coordinated swarms. The system can jam multiple frequencies at once and is built for contested, congested, and dynamic environments.
Jan Link, Product Manager for C-UAS Solutions at Rohde & Schwarz, said that first-person view (FPV) drone attacks have evolved rapidly in both complexity and scale.
“C-UAS operators need to have the capability to jam every potential frequency, even during swarm attacks with multiple drones operating on different frequencies,” he said.
ARDRONIS Effect builds on the company’s expertise in signal detection, sensor fusion, and vertical integration. It reached technology readiness level 9 (TRL 9) and is already in use by undisclosed customers in Europe. It’s controlled by Rohde & Schwarz’s proprietary ARDRONIS Control Center software.
The system can operate on its own or be used with other components in the ARDRONIS suite—Detect, Locate Compact, and Locate Advanced. It also integrates easily into third-party platforms thanks to its open architecture.
The main technical challenge, according to Link, is to jam a wide area with enough precision and power to stop FPVs carrying weapons or collecting intelligence. ARDRONIS Effect addresses this by delivering high output across multiple frequency bands at once, without leaving gaps in time or spectrum.
It’s built for a wide range of defence missions. These include protecting vehicles and convoys, securing forward operating bases, and guarding critical infrastructure like power plants, refineries, and ports.
“The main challenge of ARDRONIS Effect is to jam a wide area but in a way that is effective enough to stop the operation of weaponised FPVs or intelligence-gathering drones,” said Mr. Link.
